For this August’s Neuroscientist of the Month, we introduce Dr Valentina Borghesani, a new Assistant Professor at the University of Geneva within the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research “Evolving Language”.
Valentina will start her new lab (Neurobiology of Concepts Expression Laboratory, NoCe) this September, which focusses on studying the cognitive and neural correlates of semantic knowledge and their interplay with language, using both behavioural and neuroimaging techniques.
She obtained her PhD in cognitive neuroscience from the Sorbonne University in Paris and conducted her postdoctoral research in clinical and computational neuroscience respectively at the University of California San Francisco and Université de Montreal.
Valentina is passionate about and active in bridging neuroscience and ethics (https://doi.org/10.1002/hbm.25351), community (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuron.2021.04.001), diversity (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuroimage.2021.117742), environment (https://osf.io/6zysw/), and the arts (https://apertureneuropub.cloud68.co/articles/55/).
When not overthinking about concepts and the brain, she enjoys running and putting hot sauce on virtually anything.
