Celine Camon

PhD Student

University of Otago

I am a final year PhD Studnet in the Centre for Neuroendocrinology at the University of Otago, New Zealand. I completed my BSc (Hons) in physiology while in Ireland and I am currently undertaking a laboratory exchange at UCLA in Los Angeles. My PhD work has focused on understanding how estrogen treatment, specifically estrogen's signaling effects in the brain, can regulate protective effects against metabolic dysfunction during menopause. I am extremely passionate about developing a better understanding of menopause, both from a physiological perspective but also from documenting people's experiences of this transition from across the globe. My ultimate goal is to improve the current treatment options available for menopausal symptoms and how we approach this hormonal transition. .
